What’s the pet-naming methodology in your household? I need to know!

I love that you adopted kitties!!! They’re so cute! Great post!!

We have Cleo, which is short for Cleopatra, because we thought she looked Egyptian. But we wish we would’ve named her Skittles because she’s so skittish. She’s also known as Cleotis or Cleophus, because someone thought that’s what Cleo was short for and that cracked us up.

Our other cat is Mr. Mustache and if you saw him you’d know why. His nicknames are Stash, Stasher Basher and Mr. Bisterman.

And PS I think I accidentally deleted my poll! Can you vote again if you did before? (Ooh election fraud, haha). Thanks for reading and commenting, Justin! It really helps me keep going!

I am a sucker for naming your pet anything remotely related to the type of animal they actually are. You're going to end up using diminutive terms like "kitty" "catty" "cat-o-rama" - I could go on - so why fight it? ;)

Ok so how long is it acceptable to wait while I watch? I mean… I suppose there’s no deadline? ☺️ And yes alllll the diminutives!

PS I just accidentally deleted the poll! Can I ask you to vote again? ( because clearly these results are crucial 😂)

Aw! Well jeeze! Thank you! I am snuggling with both of them purring in my ears …which is awesome except I am supposed to be being productive 😁

They're adorable! I've been meaning to check out Books & Meows for a while now, and this was the push I needed. I'll be booking a time slot. ☺️

Love, LOVE the pet story! As a crazy cat lady myself (currently have two), I can only applaud you for getting two. My cats are usually named after characters in books that I have liked, but my current cats were re-homed to me, so I kept the names they came with--they do answer to them (ok, they look up when I say their names; doesn't mean they actually do anything when they're called). Congrats on joining the cat-lady club!

Ahhhhh Connie, thank you!! I’m sure I’m going to have my moments of regret about getting two. The kitten broke a Seattle mug this weekend that I’ve had for … ?? Decades. But damn he’s cute. Love literary names! Thank you so much for reading and commenting!

Shoes are soooooo early 1980s. Almost exactly like the pair in which I fell down the escalator to a subway station, broke off a heel, ripped my stockings to hell, and still have the scars from two skinned knees. Hold the handrail!

Darling kitties.

haha sorry to hear about that painful stumble, but ... at least it creates a vivid image and story to tell! Something I didn't mention in the post: I thought this new style from Old Navy was so cute, (and I'm such a repeater/ hanger-onner of a few good things rather than being on trend)... I bought two pairs, one in a lighter color and one in a darker. So, now,... twice the treacherousness!
